If you are old enough to remember the great music scene Jersey had back in the late 80’s, then you probably remember the bands American Angel and Xenon. Xenon had a few reunion shows over the last couple years, but if you missed them, then you definitely don’t want to miss April 30th, 2005 at Double D’s Entertainment Complex. Joining Xenon will be the reformed American Angel. The only original member is Rocco Fury, but from the new song I’ve heard, and the review of the Mike Tramp show you will want to stop by and check it out.
If we can get enough of a draw, maybe we can get a full fledged reunion of some of the best bands from the heady days. This has been something that I’ve wanted to happen since I went to the New York Steel show right after 9/11. That show featured the reunion of Twisted Sister, along with Sebastian Bach, Overkill, Anthrax and Ace Frehely. Afterwards I got to thinking, wouldn’t it be great to get a reunion some of Jersey’s finest local bands together for one night. Tops on my list (besides the AA and Xenon) would be Trixter (would have to get Peter Loran up from AZ), Law & Order, TT Quick (although they have had a couple reunions over the years), Prophet (Ken Dubman is now a captain of a charter boat), and I’m sure I’m missing some other good ones from back in the day.
If you want to check out a cool site that has similar musical tastes, check out Rock Eyez. I bumped into them while checking out the American Angel site. But the guys there need to set up an RSS feed for their site, so I can find out when they publish new material. I hate doing it the old school way of having to remember to hit a site every couple weeks. I'd rather just drop it into RssBandit, and forget about it until something new is published.
