I’m not a Conservative (I’m more of a Heinlein Libertarian), and I’m not really a punk (I’m more of Metalhead (well really more of what back in the early 80’s was called rivetheads, but that term has morphed into something else now)), but I love this site, www.conservativepunk.com.  Most punks are considered liberals and the majority try to belittle those who think in more conservative fashion (which is total against what punk is supposed to be about, letting people be who they are, without ridicule or preconceived notions of what is “right”).  I may not agree with everything that is on this site, but I’m glad to see that someone is trying to counteract the liberal only viewpoints of the majority of punk websites.

My metal roots go back to NWOBHM (see www.nwobhm.com), which was in the 80-82 timeframe. Basically, the first 2 Iron Maiden albums (plus the first 2 Def Leppard albums), and then all the metal spawned by that genre (Metallica, Anthrax, Overkill etc.). Yes, I also got into the LA Metal scene (VanHalen and then the hair bands), plus the progressive metal of the NJ scene in the late 80's (Prophet, Xenon, TT Quick). I made it thru the mid to late 90's thanks to guys like Butch Walker, and now in the early 00's pop-punk has seemed to replace the hair metal genre.

Regardless, of how you got to the metal point you are now, www.conservativepunk.com is an excellent site.

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
