Windows Presentation Foundation As Explained By Pablo Fernicola - WPF Group Program Manager

Well, well, well, Pablo Fernicola finally has a blog.  Pablo is a Group Program Manager for the Windows Presentation Foundation (formerly called Avalon).  He will be presentation the following session at the PDC:

PRS309 - Windows Presentation Foundation ("Avalon"): Overview of Windows Vista Graphics
September 14, 1:45 PM - 3:00 PM

Windows Presentation Foundation (formerly codename "Avalon") sets a new bar for what you should expect from graphics functionality, from the breadth of capabilities that it brings together, to the consistency that it presents, simplifying your development process. The Windows Presentation Foundation is designed to benefit from present and future advances in hardware acceleration. Learn about the key advances in graphics, along with the new opportunities that it enables across 2D and 3D graphics, text, imaging, effects, audio, video, and animation. Beyond the functionality in each of these areas, you also learn how the power of graphics seamlessly integrates with user interface controls and with advances in Windows Vista, in relation to printing and remoting.

If you are at all interested in WPF, you should add Pablo to your OPML list, and definitely read his Windows Presentation Foundation - Graphics Under the Hood post.

On a side note, I wonder why Pablo is using Serendipity as his blog engine (which is PHP based) instead of an ASP.Net based engine like Das Blog, .Text, or CommunityServer.

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
