WebHosting4Life Now With CommunityServer Support

I’ve been using WebHosting4Life for a couple years now (along with a bunch of other bloggers, and it is highly recommended for the price, $10 per month, 300MB disk space, .Net & SQL Server support, and unlimited bandwidth) and it is time for my renewal, so I got a couple emails from them recently.  While browsing thru the content I noticed that they will now install CommunityServer for you, for no charge.  That is great since I often get stuck supporting sites for other non-techies, and now I can let them work directly with WebHosting4Life.  If a .Net User Group needs to upgrade their website, WebHosting4Life and CommunityServer is the way to go.

But It seems that it is only the forum. It would be nice to have the complete CS (blog, forum, gallery) packet installed. Although, I am glad to see that they have the possibility. I am with WebHost4Life too and they are great.

It's time to rethink your opinion of Webhost4life.

I've been hosting with them for the last 4 years. Recently, I renewed my account with them and authorized a charge of $239.4. However, when I got my billing statement, a charge of $250 was requested. When I contaced their customer service, I was told that there was a $10 renewal fee.

This is very disappointing for a company that boasts that it does not condone any hidden charges of any kinds. I am very disappointed of this entire process. Mind you, if I was notified of the change in their hosting fee structure/policy, I might just okay the charge.

Well, it's time for hunting for a new provider. Godaddy.com a better plan the Webhost4life for the same monthly fee ($19.95/mo).

Cheers,

Don't bother. Their price is cheap but you will get what you pay for. If you are doing anything technical and need their support it will take forever. Real jerks! The same tech using different names will kepp tell you that their techinician will get to it. I wonder if they really have technicians???? It will only be good for sharing your pictures on the web. They also have 20MB limit for email. 20 MB! Come on! I have to keep deleting emails otherwise I will not be able to get emails.

I just started using webhosting4life about two-half weeks ago and our page rank dropped on a lot of our pages. I am going through the long and not so plesent chat sessions with what seems to be the same person. I feel like I made a big mistake. The marketing and all the stuff that comes with this hosting program; you would think this business/site would be better maintained, managed better, and some QA/QC put into place. Ed

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
