Conference Schedule Shaping Up

Well, it looks like my conference schedule is shaping up for the next year.

The rumored XmlDevCon V has been announced and will be at the end of September.  Chris is looking for presenters, so if you have some cool XML based application or technique that you would like to discuss, this is the place to do it.  And this isn’t a Microsoft only event, so definitely drop Chris an email if your discussion isn’t MS based.  I really don’t have something that I think is cool and interesting, so I don’t think I’ll submit a proposal (plus, I’d like to just relax and absorb it all this time).  This is probably the best conference out there, since it is by developers for developers (marketing types need not attend), plus Chris keeps the costs way down.

PDC 2005 – Scoble mentioned on .Net Rocks that the next PDC is scheduled for April 2005.  He didn’t mention the location, but I have heard rumors of LA again (ugh!).

TechEd 2005 – Orlando, June 5-10.  I’m not sure why they didn’t bump the data a couple months, since the PDC is about 2 months prior (I’m sure these things are scheduled years in advance, so that might be it), but odds are good that I’ll be at next year's TechEd (I’m pretty sure I will not be moving any time soon).  I was at the last TechEd in Orlando, and hopefully the wife will be able to go too.

I am glad to hear that Don. I've been thinking about going over to Orlando (sine it's only about 2 hour drive away) to attend the next TechEd (I've got to convince work to pay for it). Now I have an even better reason... I might get to meet DonXML!

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
