NJ Dev Dinner

ScottW and I are going to kick off New Jersey’s version of the Portland Nerd Dinner on February 19th at 6:30PM at the Harvest Moon Brewery in New Brunswick, and anyone that wants to show up, just let one of us know (all are welcome, we are just trying to get a rough estimate of the size of the group).  I thought we should have it at the Bada Bing (a la the Sopranos, and yes it is a real place, but with another name), but we might have been distracted, and not talked about development.  We want to keep this pretty unstructured, and keep it sort of like what we were doing at the PDC, just hanging and talking about things on the tech side.  We have tried to keep it a pretty central location and along the major train lines (for our fellow Jerseyans that defected to NYC).  We would have preferred something more casual like the food court that the Portland crew uses, but nothing seemed to fit the first two requirements.  I think we will rotate the dinners amongst the different areas of NJ, but we will have to see about that.  New Brunswick should be pretty central to most of New Jersey.

Here’s the link for directions.  Anyone coming in by train, let us know and we will try to coordinate a pickup (but it’s only a couple blocks to the brewery).

Don,

If I'm in NYC that night count me in. I'll need directions from Manhattan.

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
