YAS&RV

Yes folks, you asked for it (and even if you didn’t), the dynamic duo known as Scott & Rory (sounds like a morning radio show) have released Yet Another Scott & Rory Video – Revenge of the Sith.  They move out of the bathroom and into a conference room, where they learn that they really need to go to TechEd.  The ending would have been even better, if a 10 year old girl came in fixed their diagram on the whiteboard and then told them that they should go to TechEd, but hey, there aren’t a lot of kids walking around the Microsoft campus.

My recommendation for the next video:  Something on VB6.  Maybe get a bunch of MVPs that signed the petition to create a picket line in front of the building housing the VS.Net team, and then have Rory and Scott let them know the support for VB6 isn’t ending, it has enter the 3 year extended support phase of it’s lifecycle.

I don't know if you're going to get a lot of agreement in replacing the woman who fixed their diagram. Not by me, anyway.

But "Something on VB6" for the next video. Excellent. I can't wait for that one!!!

I told Scott via email last week that "Return of the Sith" was coming out RSN that they should have a light saber battle, with one of them (probably Scott) posing as the all-knowing VB6 overlord urging his enemy (Rory as a VB7 soldier) to "come to the dark side" while saying something like "You know Fluke, I *AM* your father!"

He seemed receptive...

But I like your idea too!

My next suggestion will about the latest skirmish: the VSTS packaging and pricing. I've got a couple of dumb-ass ideas for that one.

About donxml

I’m an independent consultant, specializing in .Net solutions architecture, based out of New Jersey who also doubles as an evangelist for XML, Domain Driven Design, enterprise architecture and .Net. I do not work for Microsoft, the W3C or any other big company that you may know of (at least not yet). I’ve been an indie for over ten years, and although I’ve been tempted a couple times to take a job with companies like Microsoft, I’ve haven’t found something better than my current situation. I work mostly with the large pharmaceuticals that are based here in New Jersey, and usually find myself on long term contracts. Definitely not the prototypical indie consultant, but it lets me dedicate time to my non-income generating activities like the developer community stuff, plus financing open source projects like XPathmania and MVP-XML. If you would like to talk to me about doing some contract work, just contact me via the contact page. My rates vary widely, depending on lots of different variables, but mostly distance from Jersey, and type of work. Plus, I’ve been known to donate some of my code for various projects.
